During this time of eLearning, Whitney Young will be teaming up with Jigzaw Pieces Warehouse to provide our 2,100 students and our faculty and administration with free jigsaw puzzles. When we return, Whitney Young will try to break the Guinness World Records for biggest jigsaw puzzle.

Students of Whitney Young who have gotten wind of this plan are excited about breaking the record. Here are their responses:

“The reality of our senior year has become a crazy puzzle. We might as well distract ourselves and build a jigsaw puzzle,” noted Angelina Smith, ‘20.

“I’ve been preparing for this moment my entire life,” stated Elena Gomez, ‘23.

“On your mark, ready, set, let’s go,” said William Pinkett, ‘22 aka Gettin jiggy wit it.

The Guinness World Records jigsaw puzzle with the most pieces consisted of 551,232 pieces and was completed with an overall measurement of 14.85 x 23.20 m (48 ft 8.64 in x 76 ft 1.38 in) by 1,600 students of the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), at the Phu Tho Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on 24 September 2011.

Whitney Young administration, maintenance workers, and groundskeepers’ plan to meet this week to discuss puzzle distribution and where to house this massive puzzle to be built by 2100 students. Is our gymnasium big enough? Perhaps they can come up with the world’s largest tarp to put over the puzzle and house it at our new Michelle Obama Complex.

If 1,600 students of the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City can break the record, surely 2,100 Whitney Young students can break their record! Go Dolphins!
