Gigi v Jake

Infamous Youtuber, Jake Paul, made some snarky tweets at former one direction member Zayn Malik. Jake Paul was mad that Zayn didn’t want to hang out with him and his gang of D list celebrities. So he called Zayn Malik bitter and said he was going to a hotel room by himself and is a loser. But Zayn’s girlfriend, supermodel Gigi Hadid, came rushing to his defense and Dragged Jake Paul with the following response: “Lol cause he doesn’t care to hang with you and your embarrassing crew of YouTube groupies ..? home alone with his best friends like a respectful king cause he has me, sweetie. Unbothered by your irrelevant ugly ass. Go to bed.” Twitter went WILD after seeing this response. When this happens on Twitter, it’s called a “drag.” Dragging someone in twitter terms is when you set someone straight and tell them how it is. This drag was important in twitter culture because Jake Paul is a known trouble maker. From racially insensitive jokes to recording inside a suicide forest to just making awful music, he’s not anyone’s favorite person. Gigi’s tweet back to Jake Paul had a lot of success with over 100k likes and retweets. But not everyone in the Twitterverse thought it was a successful drag.

Do you think Gigi dragged Zayn?

Madison Saunders ‘21, “I don’t really know much about Gigi Hadid but I don’t like Jake Paul. So go her!”
