Holiday Break Approaching

As the Holiday Break is approaching, the feeling at school becomes slightly more chaotic. As we get closer to Friday, less is happening in classes and the energy grows larger and larger. In general, students seem to be looking forward to the Holiday Break.

Seniors will in large part be finishing college applications, many of which are due on January 1. They are also in the process of getting responses from colleges that they applied to Early Admission and Early Decision. An Early Admission application is non-binding, while Early Decision applications are binding. This means if one applies to a university Early Decision, they must go there if they are accepted.

Allison Chhay, ‘20 said that she was most excited about “Getting done with college apps,” over break.

With the sense of rising panic that seems to happen around college applications, many seniors feel like they haven’t had the opportunity to rest.

Marisol Guerrero, ‘20 said that she was most excited for the “Possibility of seeing friends and more family,” over the break.

Julia Medina, ‘20 echoed this sentiment when she said “I am so excited about seeing friends and family that I don’t get to see often.”

As recent alumni finish their finals and return home for break, many are returning to Whitney Young to visit teachers and current students.

Mearieta Clemente, ‘19 said she’s the most excited about “Just being home and getting the time to not worry about anything.”

There seems to be a constant sense of disruption with the news cycle and the impeachment of President Trump that I think most people are excited to get some rest.
