These past years, people have been getting addicted to nicotine, especially underage teenagers. “People vape at school all the time,” said Ethan Gonzalez ‘21. It has gotten so bad to the point where parents are filing lawsuits against the company, JUUL, for getting their children addicted to nicotine. 

“I know people from my elementary school that has started vaping already,” stated Kyle Lee ‘22. As time progresses, the addiction seemingly gets worse as more teenagers start to use vaping devices. 

Before, many thought that nicotine from vaping devices were a beneficial way to quit smoking, or avoid smoking. The company JUUL argued that its product as “safer than cigarettes.” Nonetheless as time went on and more research was made, the addictiveness of nicotine was revealed and all the health issues that it causes. 

There have been many deadly incidents that have made the news, caused by vaping. For instance, a man from Illinois died from respiratory illness, possibly caused by his vaping. A child as young as 1 year old was also pronounced dead after ingesting liquid nicotine. 

This just shows many underlying damages that vaping and nicotine and cause to a person, especially children. “Stop vaping before it’s too late,” exclaimed Andy Xu ‘17. So if you’re thinking about vaping, don’t do it!
