Thanksgiving Season

As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, many students are getting into the holiday spirit. There are many things to look forward to as the weather gets colder. Although the scent of summer and the feeling of warmth are gone, there is a sense of closeness that comes with the lights and decorations that are put up around this time. Many students are talking about Thanksgiving and some are even skipping to Christmas. The holiday season is a time to some together as a community. Max Moore ‘21 exclaimed, “I’m excited to see my family and eat food and not do school.” Many students in the Whitney Young Community have the same ideas. This time in the school year is also full of stress for many students. Especially those that are facing a lack of motivation as the weather gets colder. Mary Hynds ‘20 stated, “I’m super excited to make macaroons and Whoopie pies. It’s my first time in charge of desserts! I’m also very excited to see family I don’t usually see and take a break from being a senior. I’m super ready for Black Friday too!”

Black Friday is also something that many students look forward to during the holiday season. There are many deals on electronics and clothing that students can take advantage of. The holiday season has a high concentration on giving, and Black Friday makes this possible for some students to buy things to gift to others. “I think it’s interesting how right after the day we give thanks for what we have, we go out and buy a bunch of stuff. But it’s cool.” stated Mitchelle Mojekwu, ‘20. Overall, Thanksgiving is a time of thanks and love and is looked forward to by many students.
