Fall sports have finally ended, and it is now time for winter sports. That means bowling, swimming, and Basketball. Historically, Whitney Young is one of the best teams in the state when it comes to basketball, and nothing has changed this year. The girls team is led by Michigan recruit Cameron Williams and Texas A&m recruit Kayla Green. The boys team is led by 5 Star Duke recruit DJ Steward, Tyler Beard and others. It is an exciting time to be a dolphin as the expectations for the teams this year are lofty, the goal for both teams is a state championship. I talked to some students around the school and asked if they were looking forward to the season and why. “I think they’re going to be really good, I hope that the boys go down state because it is my senior year and they didn’t make it last year” said Jack Turken 20’. The dolphins face a grueling schedule, making six total road trips throughout the year, going to Florida, South Carolina, California and others. The Dolphins last won state in 2016-2017, it is time for another state championship to be brought back to Whitney Young.
