What’s In Your Mug?

It’s getting cold outside! The colors of the leaves are changing and it has already snowed a few times this school year. Fall is in full swing, and I think that most students can agree that the worst part of this time of year is the chilly temperatures that Chicago can reach. During this time of year, most people look for remedies to the chilly air outside. People turn to sweaters, fuzzy blankets, and fireplaces, but a great and underappreciated way to combat the cold is a nice hot beverage!

When thinking of fall drinks, the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks comes to mind first. While this reporter is not a fan of this drink, luckily there are so many better cozy drinks to choose from. “I love hot chocolate on a cold, snowy day,” states Hyla Carr ‘23. Hot chocolate is a winter staple and definitely tastes better out of a mug. “It’s not for everyone but I’m just going to say it. I like eggnog,” says Olivia May ‘21. Eggnog is a Thanksgiving and overall traditional holiday season drink. Coffee, tea, and lattes are timeless and staple drinks. “I love a good Chai Latte with oat milk. I am lactose intolerant, so I tend to stay away from any dairy,” claimss Emily Ariyama ‘20. Another great one for the lactose intolerant students out there is hot apple cider. What beverage will you drink to stay warm in these cold months? Comment below.  The Beacon would love to hear from you.
