The Worst the NFL Has Seen

On November 14, the Pittsburgh Steelers traveled to Cleveland to revive the bitter rivalry once more. The big story was not the first 58 minutes of the game but instead was the last two. The Browns dominated the game and tensions were high. On the penultimate play of the game, Myles Garrett tackled the Pittsburgh quarterback, Mason Rudolph, and both went to the ground. Then, after the whistle had blown, Garrett and Rudolph were still in a scuffle. Garrett proceeded to rip off Rudolph’s helmet and smack him with it in the head with aggression. This sparked the entrance of other players into the scuffle which ended quickly thereafter. Myles Garrett is a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns football team. He has proven himself to be one of the best in the league at his position, but that won’t help him now.

Some people believe Myles Garrett should never be allowed to play in the NFL again. The NFL committee decided on a lesser punishment by suspending him for the rest of the season and the playoffs.

“You just can’t do that. He is a professional and should know better than to act like that especially on live television,” added Miles Hart, ‘20. Garret faced immediate criticism after the game and was suspended for the rest of the season, including the playoffs. Patrick Herbig, ‘20, said, “it’s well deserved for sure. That might be the worst altercation I have ever seen on the football field”. Patrick Moran, ‘20, exclaimed, “I don’t think he will ever play again because if I were the Browns, I wouldn’t want to bring someone with that reputation back on the team”.

We will just have to wait until next season to see if Myles Garrett will play football again.
