No School November

Madeleine Byun

Chicago Public Schools have a total of seven days out of school this month. Students returning from the teachers strike on November 1st marked the beginning of “No School” November. The second week of November included the end of first quarter. The following Friday was a School Improvement day. Then, Report Card pickup and Parent-Teacher Conference Day was November 14th.

I asked some Whitney Young students to give their thoughts about No School November. Alyssa Valles, ‘22 said, “No School November is awesome, but having the strike now it just feels like we are never in school. Which isn’t a bad thing.” Camryn Henry, ‘22 said, “I love it, it’s the best month ever.” And Kimberly Vu-Smith, ‘21 said, “It’s amazing, it allows me to have a break from school.”

Here are some official calendars of all the days off in November.
