Homecoming Pep Rally

Whitney Young has had its annual Spirit Week in preparation for the Homecoming game. Every year the students follow a schedule of themed days to get into the school spirit. Spirit Week finishes off with Orange and Blue day showing off the school’s dolphin pride and enjoying the homecoming pep rally.

On Friday, October 11, Whitney M. Young Magnet High School had its annual Homecoming Pep Rally. This yearly tradition gets the students excited for a new school year and is followed by an exciting football game later that evening. To kick off the pep rally students are greeted by a drumline from Whitney Young’s very own band program. In addition to the drumline, the band also plays popular songs while students wait for the pep rally to officially begin. To hype up the students for the upcoming game, Whitney Young’s cheer team, guys and dolls, and POMS Squad performed for the students.

Here is what some students had to say about the homecoming event:

“The pep rally ? It was decent.” said, Emily Lopez ‘21.

“The seniors were wack and not hype at all. I did enjoy seeing the poms team twice and cheer was really together in their performance !” expressed Ashley Conde  ‘20.

Jocelyn Perez, ‘22, stated, ¨ The pep rally was very entertaining and I loved the energy of the crowd ̈.

Whitney Young’s football team will be playing against Von Stuben at Rockne stadium. Let’s go Dolphins!
