Homecoming week 2019

Homecoming week at Whitney Young took place October 7th through October 11th, with a different theme each day. The week started off with pajama day, so everyone was very cozy at school. Next up was twin day, where everyone was matching with their bestie. On Wednesday everyone took it way back and came to school with some retro outfits on. Thursday was class color day, which of course means senior blackout. Starting in gold house, the seniors paraded around the school celebrating their last year at Whitney Young. Blackout ended with all the seniors on the field, and a bouncy house. Here are some thoughts on the blackout.

Tristan Stevens, 20’, stated “It’s a lot of fun and a great way to get into a good mood for the homecoming game and the dance.”

Jahari Walker, ‘21, noted “It looks awesome, can’t wait to be a senior next year.”

Mr. Perez-Hernandez, math teacher, said “I wish my school had events like this when I was a senior.”

Spirit week will end with blue and orange day, and of course the pep rally. Unfortunately, the most fun week all year goes by too fast, but at least there is a three day weekend where everyone can recover from the weeks’ festivities.
