The series ‘You’ on Netflix premiered on September 9, 2018 with season one consisting of ten episodes. It is a thriller following Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, who works at a bookstore, and Guinevere Beck, played by Elizabeth Lail, who is an aspiring writer. Throughout the show we see Joe develop an obsession with Beck that continues to escalate.

In this show, Joe is not a good person. He is a stalker and a murder and claims that it is out of love for Beck and to protect their relationship. While many people see Joe as creepy, some don’t and have romanticized his actions. The actor started to respond to people saying “He is a murderer”. One person even tagged the actor saying “kidnap me pls”, to which he responded “no thx”.

While everyone loves a good show, these comments even if they are jokes, are disturbing.
