As you all know from my previous article, Whitney Young Girls Basketball First Game, the Girls have competed in not only their first game but a second and third game as well. They beat Jones College Prep 81-37. “It was a great first win for the team. Everyone played well and everyone executed what was taught in practice,” says Diamond Stiles ‘20. Shortly after the Dolphins big win against Jones, they continued the winning streak against Lane Tech. The final score of the game was 72-26. Fernanda Sousa ‘19 says “I think our team is really thriving right now, all though the wins are great I am excited to play against our best competition yet. Montverde Academy.”

Unfortunately, the Dolphins fell 7 points short to the number 2 ranked team Montverde Academy. Kayla Green ‘20 says “It was a hard fought game and came down to the final minutes of the game. Sadly, we could not pull through but I am not discouraged and I think this is a learning opportunity for us as we move forward.” The Whitney Young Girls Basketball team will continue on to play Crete-Monee December 1st at 6pm.
