Inhis second year at Redlands college, he created I Love You Summer camp, a free inner-city program that provided children with art, photography, and fashion classes with an emphasis on financial literacy, meditiation, and positive affirmations. It went on for two summers, with the first summer being only one week, but the next being an entire month. It was funded mostly from GoFundMe and grants he got from various donors, but he ran it all by himself. Bilal says, “it was difficult to direct a camp but I had a village to help me.” Friends and family gathered to help counsel these kids, so Kamal wasn’t all on his own. The impact that he had on those kids lives’ was remarkable. In his last journal entry, one child wrote, “I had so much fun here! I don’t know what I would do with this place.” But, Kamal didn’t stop there. He continued to make an impact. He joined a program in Thailand that focuses on teaches kids English.
