NFC Championship Controversy

The Los Angeles Rams traveled to the swamps of New Orleans to take on Drew Brees and the Saints. Brees, the most accurate quarterback in NFL history failed to find success in this seasons NFC Championship game on January 20th, 2019. There was a highly controversial play with 1:49 minutes left on the clock in the 4th quarter. Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman gave Saints wide receiver Tommylee Lewis absolutely zero chance at making any type of play. Referees refused to call this a pass interference leaving Saints fans feeling a deep hatred for official Phil McKinney. Brendan Summerhill ‘22 claimed “The refs had no idea what they were doing!” Will Stockard ‘20 said “That was obviously pass interference. No ifs, ands, or buts.” Jack Banks ‘19 had a bit of a different view on the bigger picture saying “It was a blown call, however the Saints had multiple opportunities to win the game.” This view on the game was similar to Cody Parkey of the Chicago Bears missed field goal, it does not come down to one play, every single play matters. The game went into overtime ending in a Rams win by a score of 26-23, punching their ticket to Super LIII  in Atlanta, Georgia to take on the defending champions that are the New England Patriots.
