Interview With Jennifer Branch

Myles Gibbs

This weekend, I interviewed Jennifer “Kit” Renee Branch, a very special friend of mine, whose goal is to practice orthodontics and “make the world smile.” What follows is our conversation:

So what neighborhood do you reside in?

Park Forest

And what year you graduate?

2018

What’s the best part about your high school, Danville Christian Academy?

We’ve got the “best” cook ever.

And what’s the worst part about it?

It’s a tiny school. I’m the only Junior. Nobody has any real life experiences.

Tell me about an adversity you have had to deal with?

I had a really, like, not so nice teacher experience, but that wasn’t here. It was at King Middle School. My teacher didn’t like me, so she wouldn’t let me go on field trips and stuff. That made me feel underappreciated.

What are your plans for the future?

My plans for the future? Hopefully, I’ll be able to start my own orthodontia practice. I also want to establish a foundation that provides disabled people with braces. Basically, when I was younger, I didn’t like my smile. But after I got braces, I had this complete boost in confidence. I want other people to have that kind of confidence about themselves and their smile.

What are some interests that you have developed?

I’m really into photography. I’m also into cooking. Mainly because I want to eat decent food at college.

Do you have any undeveloped interests?

Swimming. I definitely want to swim more but I never have the time. Same thing goes for poetry writing, but I suck at poetry writing, so… (laughs)

What do you spend the most time on that others might not consider productive?

Memes. Memes and selfies.

Elaborate on memes.

eLAbOraTe oN mEmeS.

(Laughter)

But no, seriously don’t ask me that.

Tell me about a particular memory or incident you have from your time in high school?

All I have really are memories from student council. I’ve been doing a lot of planning for the younger kids at my school.

If you hadn’t been a Lion, where would you have gone to high school, and how would that have impacted your life?

That’s really funny cause I was supposed to go to Whitney Young (laughs). That would’ve changed a LOT about my life. I’d probably still be living in Chicago.

What’s a quote that you live by, or one you might suggest for others?

“Disregard females. Acquire currency.” (Laughs) No. My favorite quote is, “I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.” ~ Audrey Hepburn.

Thank you so much for your time.

thAnK yOU So MuCH foR yOUr TiMe. Call me again at 1 in the morning. I dare you.
