Saying goodbye to Whitney Young’s very own rock-star, Claire Sopala

Brianna Vargas

On Friday May 12th, Claire Sopala ‘17, performed at their  very last Whitney Young Guitar Concert, and it’s safe to say that they will be missed. No stranger to singing in front of a crowd, Claire is also a part of Chicago’s School of Rock, where they perform at concerts, among many other events. Claire’s connection with music doesn’t stop there, as Claire is also the president of Coffeehouse Club at Whitney Young, which holds an open mic in the orchestra room once a month.

A person of many talents, Claire is also a huge part of Whitney Young’s Art Department, where they spend a lot of time creating wonderful art pieces as part of their Senior Experience project. Claire’s passion for art is made clear by their plans to study Art in college. Next fall, Claire will be studying Art and Business at their top choice school, New York University-Gallatin.

As a Senior at Whitney Young, Claire is excited for all of the end of the year activities, including Prom and Graduation. Claire is proud to say that they have already attended four proms at various schools  in the past, and that they hope that their own Prom will be the best one of them all.

Make sure to catch Claire at the last Coffeehouse of the year on June 9th, 2017 in the Orchestra room. If you’re lucky, you might get to seem them sing a tune, or two!
